As the Hajj season approaches, Saudi Arabia is taking steps to regulate the flow of travelers and ensure safety during this busy time. The country has announced a temporary suspension of short-term visas for nationals of 14 countries, effective Sunday, April 13th. The suspension applies to nationals from the following countries:
- Algeria
- Bangladesh
- Egypt
- India
- Indonesia
- Iraq
- Jordan
- Libya
- Morocco
- Nigeria
- Pakistan
- Sudan
- Tunisia
- Yemen
All short-term visas will be temporarily halted, including:
- Business Visit Visas (single and multiple entry)
- E-Tourist Visas
- Family Visit Visas
Suspension of affected visas will take place from Sunday, April 13, 2025. Visitors who already hold a valid short-term visa may enter Saudi Arabia until April 13, 2025, and must ensure to exit before April 29, 2025. Failure to comply will result in a fine of SAR 100,000—a significant increase from the previous penalty of SAR 25,000. Visa issuance is anticipated to resume post Dhul Hijjah 20, which falls on July 16 or 17, 2025, according to the Gregorian calendar, depending on the moon sighting. However, it is at the discretion of the authorities to extend the suspension timeline.
Important update on Umrah visas
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced that the final date for Umrah pilgrims to enter Saudi Arabia is April 13, 2025. This measure is part of preparations for the upcoming Hajj season. Pilgrims must also depart by April 29, 2025. Additionally, new guidelines for Umrah visas have been introduced, with these visas set to be available starting June 11, 2025.
It is crucial that travelers hold the correct visa for any planned travel to Saudi Arabia. Attempts to enter without the proper visa, may result in refused entry or financial penalty.
