Business Visa Application Requirements for a Nigeria Visa

  1. Passport

    You must provide your actual signed passport, including one copy of the personal information page of your passport. Your passport must:

    • Be valid for the next six months
    • Have at least one blank visa page (amendments and endorsement pages cannot be used to fulfill this requirement)
    • Not be frayed, torn, separating, or altered in any other way

  2. Photographs

    You must provide one color, passport-type photograph. The photograph must:

    • Be printed on photo paper
    • Be two inches by two inches
    • Have a white background
    • Have been taken within the last six months

  3. Business Introduction Letter

    A letter of introduction from your US-based company is required. Your completed introduction letter must:

    • Be printed on your company’s official letterhead
    • Display your full name, nationality, and job title
    • Display your company’s US address
    • Specify the exact purpose of your trip
    • Specify the number of entries requested and the length of each stay
    • Include your specific entry and exit dates
    • Include the validity of your requested visa
    • Be signed by your supervisor or your company’s Human Resources department
    Included in this kit is a sample Business Introduction Letter for your reference.  Please use the exact language found in the sample when completing your own business introduction letter and include any special requirements listed above.

  4. Visa Application Form

    The Consulate of Nigeria has instituted a web-based visa application form. You must complete your visa application and pay the associated fee online, then print a copy of your application and the receipt of your payment. Details can be found at https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/?p=welcome. It is important that you submit us both a copy of your application and the payment receipt. The receipt should state the words: "Payment Received." Please be advised that any other proof of payment is not accepted by the consulate.

    Your completed application must:

    • Include answers for all fields
    • Include your signature as it appears in your passport
    The consular fee listed below is a seperate 'third party submittal fee' charged by the Nigerian Consulate.

  5. Invitation Letter

    You must obtain a letter of invitation. The organization you will be visiting is responsible for obtaining the invitation. A copy is acceptable. This letter must:

    • Be written on company letterhead
    • Include the full local address and phone number of the organization or person to be visited
    • Request the same validity of visa as in the Business Introduction Letter.
    • Specify the number of entries you are requesting for your visa

  6. Proof of Travel Arrangements

    You must provide proof of travel arrangements for the duration of your trip.  Details of your intended arrangements must:

    • Include a copy of an itinerary or e-ticket showing entry and exit dates
    • Show the traveler's full name (as printed in his or her passport)

  7. CIBT Order Form

    You must provide one completed CIBT Order Form. The form must:

    • Include a valid email address and payment information, if applicable
    • Include your signature in blue or black ink

  8. Religious Professions

    Anyone who has the profession of a religious leader or part of any religious sect (Minister, Pastor, etc.) must have an approval from the Nigerian immigration office in Nigeria before the visa can be issued in the US. This can take approx 2 months.

Tourist Application Requirements for a Nigeria Visa

    You must provide proof that you possess sufficient funds.  Your financial details must:

    • Include a copy of your most recent bank statement
    • Display your full name
